Policies

Responsibilities of the Program:

DZ Arts is a New York not-for-profit corporation, and a fully licensed childcare provider with the NYS Department of Health Office of Children and Family Services. The Corporation provides healthy movement, play, arts and sports activities for elementary grade students fostering growth and development in an environment for children from all backgrounds. Through training in performance, production, writing and recreation, children have the opportunity to learn and benefit from the unique perspective that the Arts classes offer in order to foster a positive community and self-confidence. Classes are provided at your home school during afterschool hours and conference days, where needed.

Responsibilities of the Parent:

Notification must be sent 48 hours in advance for any changes in pick up people or changes to registration and that Jumbula must be updated to reflect these changes. Anyone picking up a child must show a photo ID and be listed on your approved Jumbula account. The Parent understands that our code of conduct rules prohibits bullying either verbal or physical. Any bullying either verbal or physical including but not limited to rough housing, kicking, biting, pushing, and any unwanted contact, as well as any behavior that is considered “unsafe” such as but not limited to: running out of the classroom, hurting oneself or another person or anything that is unsafe to the child or the others in the program, is grounds for dismissal without refund. DZ Arts Development, Inc. together with ABC Fit Kids and Sports has a zero tolerance for bullying and follows the nysed.gov definition: https://www.nysed.gov/sites/default/files/definitions-of-bullying.pdf. If your child has any special health issues, you are welcome to discuss your child’s needs at any time, particularly each semester, if there are any changes to your child’s health.

Admission and Disenrollment Policies:

As of five Business days before the beginning of the school semester, there is no cancellation or refund. No credit or refund for missed or unused sessions including quarantined, Zoom, or health or acts of God and that all fees paid to the program are non-refundable, tuition is non-transferable. There is a $25 change of class fee (Transfer Fee) offered only where space is available. If a request is made after the Transfer Deadline, the change of class fee is $55.

Notification of Accidents, Serious Incidents and Injuries:

In the event of an emergency, you are giving us permission to transport your child to another location for the purposes of an evacuation. You will be notified at our earliest ability via email or note home. We will update you at our earliest ability and request email communication to risingstar@dzarts.org in order to keep phone lines open to emergency services. If your child has a serious medical condition, you must fill out the required state forms in order for your child to participate. If no directive is provided, the program will call 911.

Behavior Management Plan:

  • The first rule is to have FUN!
  • The second rule is to respect ourselves and others.
  • If you have any problems, make sure to let the instructors know right away.
  • It is always important to listen to and follow our instructors.  It is important to stay with your group and not leave your group to do your own thing without asking.
  • We will be following the same rules you have during the school day.  If anything doesn’t make sense, be sure to ask your instructor.
  • So that everyone has a good time afterschool, there is no: rough housing, pushing, kicking, biting or hurting anyone.
  • There is no being mean to others in the program by saying something mean spirited or doing something to them we wouldn’t like.
  • It is really important to not run out of the classroom and when we use the restroom we are respectful before, during, and after.
  • Food must never be shared for safety and eaten where assigned.
  • We must never use the internet, text or use social media except where it is needed for a class for the safety of all the students.
  • If the alarm rings or an announcement is made, we stop and listen for instructions.
  • If someone gets hurt, we stop playing and wait for instructions.
  • If you lose something after class and it is found, it will be placed in the lost and found.

The student’s enrollment may be terminated for a violation of the rules or regulations of the program, or for any reason whatsoever at the program’s sole discretion, without any refund or cancellation of tuition.

Emergency Drop-In Policies:

Emergency drop-ins are available starting the 3rd week of school where needed. Emergency drop-ins are limited to a maximum of 3 times per semester and enrollment in at least one class in our program at the time of the request is required to allow for these services. A written request is required, ideally 24-48 hours in advance, and class placement is at the discretion of the program. DZ Arts, Inc. is historically the dedicated afterschool program and must take care of the student and PTA families organizationally. Registration space is provided for incoming students throughout the semester.

Fire Safety Policies:

In the event of a fire or non-fire emergency, DZ Arts Development, Inc. will act toward a safe, orderly and expeditious sheltering in place, in-building relocation, partial evacuation, evacuation, or any combination thereof, in the event of a fire, in accordance with the emergency preparedness plan for the premises.
